The Job Market Is Picking Up, AI Is Moving Into ATS Platforms — and Scammers Are Already Waiting on the Other End of the Interview
August job posting data in Poland gives reason for cautious optimism, the big ATS platforms are racing to roll out generative AI, and security experts are warning about a new wave of recruitment scams. Here's what shook up the HR tech industry this past week.
01 · Job Market
August in the black: job postings in Poland grow for the fourth month running
The latest report from Grant Thornton and Element, based on August 2026 data and published on September 14, shows 257,046 new job postings in Poland — 4% more than a year earlier and already the fourth consecutive month of growth [1]. Importantly, growth was recorded in all 10 cities surveyed, with healthcare services posting the strongest gain (+18%). Good news for the IT sector: it has returned to growth (+5%) after a prolonged period of stagnation.
Analysts, however, aren't letting the headline numbers fool them. They point to a paradox: the growing number of postings comes alongside falling employment in the enterprise sector, which suggests we're looking at higher employee turnover rather than genuine market growth. For ATS vendors, that's a signal that demand for efficient recruitment management tools tied to more frequent staff turnover will keep rising — even if the net number of new positions isn't growing at the same pace.
02 · AI in Recruitment
Greenhouse and Workable: AI becomes part of the recruiter's everyday toolkit
While Poland's market is busy counting postings, global ATS leaders are accelerating their rollout of generative AI. On September 6, Greenhouse released two new assistants in beta — Candidate Insights and Talent Matching — which answer questions about candidates and let recruiters search for talent in natural language [2]. That's a real shift in a recruiter's day-to-day work: instead of manually scrolling through hundreds of profiles in a database, you can simply ask the system who's the best fit for a given role.
That same day, Workable announced its own news — users of the ATS can now buy and manage paid LinkedIn job promotions directly from within the platform, without switching between tools. Both announcements point to a clear market direction: generative AI and integrations with sourcing channels are no longer nice-to-haves, but standard equipment for a modern ATS.
03 · Security
A deepfake in the job interview? It's already happening
AI's progress in recruitment has a dark side, though. Security experts are sounding the alarm over a growing wave of recruitment fraud — fake candidates, stand-in interviewees, and deepfakes used to get through remote job interviews [3]. Citing a CBS News study, the industry blog Sherlock.sh reports that as many as half of companies have encountered some form of deepfake-based fraud in their hiring process.
That's putting direct pressure on ATS and HRIS vendors to build in candidate identity verification mechanisms — from document checks to analyzing the authenticity of video and voice during interviews. If AI makes recruiters' jobs easier (as with Greenhouse or Workable), that same technology in the hands of scammers becomes a new threat the industry has to tackle alongside its innovation push.
